Tata is India's Most Valuable Brand

The Tata group, with a brand value of $28.6 billion, has retained its title as India's most valuable brand -
according to a new report from Brand Finance, the world's leading brand valuation consultancy.

Tata Group is an Indian conglomerate of 30 companies across a wide range of industries, including automobiles,
chemicals, consumer products, energy, engineering, financial services, information systems, materials,
and telecommunications.

According to the report, the group's brand value highlights the first time an Indian brand is close to the $30 billion brand value mark, reflecting the prevailing optimism in the Indian economy.

Several Tata group companies have also sustained and grown their brand leadership, according to the report:

  • The hotel brand Taj ranked as India's Strongest Brand for the fourth consecutive year, and as the number one Most Valuable Indian Hotel brand.
  • TCS ranked as the #1 Most Valuable Indian IT Services brand.
  • Tata Steel ranked as the #1 Most Valuable Indian Mining, Metals and Minerals brand.
  • Tata Motors ranked as #5 Most Valuable Indian Automobile brand.
  • Voltas ranked 9th among the top 10 strongest Indian brands and as #4 Most Valuable Indian Engineering brand.
  • Tata Projects ranked as #5 Most Valuable Indian Engineering Brand.
  • Tata AIA Life Insurance ranked as the #4 Most Valuable Indian Insurance Brand.

Tourism and Travel

The founder of the Tata group, Jamsetji Tata set up the Taj Mahal hotel in 1903.
As the tale goes, his sisters chided him by asking, "Are you really going to build a bhatarkhana [eating house]?" But he persevered and the Taj Mahal hotel was completed by 1903, boasting of the finest luxuries at that time, and built in the typical cosmopolitan ethos of Bombay.

The airlines of the Tata group owe their inspiration to another Tata stalwart, JRD Tata who founded Tata Airlines in 1932. The airline was later christened Air India and was nationalised in 1956.

Technology

The group's technology companies led by TCS operate globally, serving a diverse set of customers and innovating a suite of market-leading products.

The group's flagship company in this sector, TCS was founded in the truly entrepreneurial and pioneering spirit that is the hallmark of the Tatas and began as a computer operation meant to serve other companies in the group. Today, the corporation is India's largest by far, and ranks among the world's top three.

TATA Steel

Tata Steel is one of the most diversified integrated steel producers in the world with a capacity of 35 MTPA across India, the Netherlands, the UK, and Thailand.

In India, Tata Steel operates in Jamshedpur and Gamharia in Jharkhand, as well as in Kalinganagar and Meramandali in Odisha, with an overall capacity of 26.6 MTPA.

In the UK, Tata Steel is transitioning to a 3.2 MTPA electric arc furnace-based steelmaking route, following the decommissioning of its heavy-end assets during the year under review.

Tata Steel Nederland has submitted its Green Steel Plan to the Dutch Government, outlining its proposal to replace one of its blast furnaces with a direct reduced iron (DRI)–electric arc furnace (EAF) configuration.

  1. Record Crude Steel Production: Tata Steel achieved its highest-ever crude steel production in India, with a total of 21.68 million tonnes (MT).
